Description
Duties and responsibilities:
Pedagogical Leadership
*Consult with teachers and provide ongoing pedagogical support in line with teaching practices and standards.
*Identify and develop strategies for staff development in meeting IB MYP requirements.
*Support the understanding of IB pedagogy within the school community.
*Communicate clearly and transparently with all staff to ensure consistency in the implementation and development of the IB programmes at CTIS.
*Oversee and support the implementation of the assessment criteria in each subject area.
*Support teachers to develop and implement appropriate IB MYP courses.
*Communicate to students and parents and other members of the School community, the goals and expectations of the IB MYP.
*Lead the implementation of Approaches to Learning (ATLs) across the IB MYP, providing leadership and support to teachers on how they can be taught and reported, in addition to providing information to parents and students.
*Coordinate service as action across the IB MYP, supporting teachers integrating service learning into their curriculum and lessons.
*Plan and lead the delivery of the MYP Interdisciplinary Units.
*Plan and lead the delivery of the MYP Community Project and inform students and parents of deadlines and other expectations through information sessions, meetings and other channels of communication.
*Develop strategies to ensure Social and Emotional Learning among the students.
Administration
*Assume responsibility to handle and record all relevant communications with IB, and to transmit to the parties concerned as necessary.
*Ensure that CTIS is compliant with IB expectations as outlined IB documentation.
*Ensure IB teaching staff have access to My IB.
*Ensure that all regulations set by the IB concerning the programme and all procedures are adhered to properly.
*Provide significant input to marketing, and development of the MYP at the School.
*In conjunction with the IB PYP Coordinator, support the Whole School Principal in the recruiting process and orientation of new staff.
*Prepare the IB MYP budget with the Whole School Principal and monitor its administration.
*Ensure all IB fees are paid in a timely manner.
*Provide all IB teaching staff with up-to-date information of new developments and IB publications.
*Inform teachers of professional development opportunities, and advise the Whole School Principal of PD approval.
*Ensure programme documentation is stored in an organized fashion.
*Support the screening of the Admissions team.
*Review student records and share trends, concerns and achievements with relevant members of the school community
*Maintain accurate school information via the IB information system (IBIS).
*Prepare report cards, in conjunction with the Principal.
Others
*Teach a minimum of one MYP subject.
*Act as SA and PP Coordinator.
*Plan for the long-term implementation and continuous improvement of the IB MYP within the School.
*Maintain visibility and accessibility in the school community.
*Contribute to MYP Coordinator Network meetings.
*Meet regularly or as required with the Whole School Principal to set goals and discuss the progress of the programme.
*Together with the Whole School Principal, plan MYP-related student trips.
*Meet regularly with the PYP Coordinator to ensure a smooth transition between the programmes.
*Actively participate in professional development.
*Lead, and supervise the MYP authorization and later on, the review cycle.
*Organize and promote Service as Action opportunities to MYP students.
*Other appropriate and relevant duties or tasks requested by the Whole School Principal.
*Performs other duties as may be assigned in the contract.
Skills and Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
– Minimum 3 years of experience in teaching and coordination roles within an IB school setting
– Proven experience and strong understanding of the IB Middle Years Programme.
– Excellent communication and leadership skills
– Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents
