β οΈ Requirements
If you are applying from overseas OR are in Japan and seeking visa sponsorship, you must:
β Be a university graduate holding a bachelor’s degree or higher.
β You also need to have had 12 years of education where English was the main language of instruction used for all classes (i.e. all classes were taught primarily in English).
Both of these are necessary to be eligible for visa sponsorship, and are non-negotiable.
However, you do not need to come from a country where English is the native language to be an ALT. As long as your educational history had the above-mentioned 12 years (such as attending a bilingual school or living abroad), you can be eligible to work as an ALT too.

Those with three or more of following will be given priority consideration:
β Prior teaching experience with young learners (especially experience in Japan)
β Holding an ESL-related certificate (TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, etc)
β Holding a valid driver’s license and willing to drive in Japan
β Conversational-level Japanese speaking/listening skills
